Creative Web Design In Bristol

There are plenty of creative web design companies in Bristol but at Deckchair we go a step further. Having a successful web site isn’t just a matter of design – it’s about understanding what your web design, copywriting, functionality and navigation are aiming to achieve and testing each element thoroughly.

Based in the central area of Bristol, Deckchair has been involved in web design since 1998. If you’re in our area, please call in and see us. Or have a look at some of our web designs here.

When you are thinking about having a website designed, there are a number of things to consider before you get to the creative web design stage. Firstly pre-planning and thinking through exactly what you need your website to do for your business is critically important. What is the role of the site? Is it to sell, generate enquiries from Bristol or further afield, build your brand or act as an online reference point with lots of information?

Good functionality is a major consideration – your site needs to be user friendly and easy to navigate. You also need to consider the search engines; it is all very well having a beautifully designed website but if nobody can find it, your creative web design isn’t reaching its full potential. Only after tackling these issues does the creative aspect come into play. Some Bristol web design companies churn out websites using templates, which means they can look very similar and fail to communicate the unique proposition and personality of a company. A truly creative web design will incorporate all these factors without compromising on usability, navigation or sales effectiveness.

Affordable Graphic Design

Briefing your designer well is the key to affordable graphic design
Graphic design is a broad term and encompasses everything from logo and brand design to brochure and point of sale design. The underlying key to excellent but affordable graphic design is for the designer to have a good understanding of the client’s goals and personality.

A good graphic designer will listen to and thrive on your input, getting to know you and your company and tailoring the designs to suit your target market. Taking the time to initially research what is required will enable a good designer to generate an eye catching design that hits the mark very quickly; this shortens the graphic design process, therefore making it more affordable.

Creative Web Design For Your Company – A Step by Step Process

The process of identity design is often taken for granted during business and project development. Ignoring this practice can result in an ineffective creative marketing campaign. The backbone to this process is centered around conceptual development and creative design. Integrating these elements into the development process and creative marketing campaign ensures that a number of critical issues are addressed. Producing a great website requires the successful conceptual development and a big picture approach to the overall project.

Brainstorming: The first step in the creative design process is to ask yourself and colleagues the following questions:

1) Who is your target audience?
2) What do you want to say / market?
3) What is your budget / timeline?
4) How will you measure success / failure?

Choosing the RIGHT Design Firm: Choosing to contract out creative web design can be a big decision. Making sure you pick the best firm for you can be an extensive process but is worth the time. Here are a few tips on making your choice.

1) Communication Is Key – How does the firm handle communication? Are they easy to reach by Phone and E-mail? Are they willing to meet you face-to-face? Are they attentive to your ideas?

2) History Tells A Story – Can the firm actually handle your project? Have they completed a project similar to yours?

3) The Firm Must WORK For You – Often websites are launched and then forgotten, is the firm willing to help you add to your website and work with you in the long term?

Concept Breakout: A concept breakout can act as a rough blueprint for your new website and help communicate your ideas with your creative web design firm. This should be built while communicating with your web design firm to make sure you understand all of the options and possibilities for your website.

Concept Proofs: Make sure your web design firm provides you with concept proofs before the development process begins. Review the proofs carefully and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Creative Web Design Development: Once the design proof has been approved your web design firm will begin the development process. It’s important to make sure the website is moving in the right direction, but to not rush the project’s development.

Usability Testing: It’s not uncommon to find usability issues and bugs after a working draft of the website is published. It’s important to test the website thoroughly before taking it live. The last thing you want is a client uncovering overlooked issues with the website.

Creative Web Design

By contracting a creative web design company to design your new website as opposed to a more traditional web company, you give yourself an unmeasurable edge over your competition in the eyes of your potential customers.

Traditional design companies focus on purely getting a site put together with relevant information, that functionally works. Enter Web 2.0 and more traditional marketing avenues venturing into the marketplace, and creative web design companies have come into the game.

By ‘creative web design’, I refer to websites which still have the functionality and relevant information consumers have come to expect, but have a huge focus on the aesthetic aspect, and use traditional marketing ‘wow factor’ to capture the users attention, and last longer in their mind than those of the competitor.

Picture a billboard with great graphic design and immaculate choice of imagery, compared with an ad on the side of the road simply with a name and number. While you may have chosen to look at both, the creative approach will prompt you, the audience, to remember the creative billboard.

Now picture two websites, side by side. One with a flash intro page, immediately showing a montage of images and grabbing y our attention; which leads into a visually beautiful website where every pixel is perfectly crafted into alignment. Next, a bland website showing you purely text and a basic navigation. The difference is so enormous it’s like comparing Black and White TV with a 3d Movie Theatre.

Through the use of the latest and greatest technology, a creative web design company will use Flash, jQuery, and HTML5 to visually engage the user; however this is where the pitfalls of a creative web design can come into play.

Many years ago, around the year 2000, many graphic design companies started to see an emergence in the marketplace for web services. Many of these companies had employees with a little web experience, enough to get by, and as such they began offering web services. What they didn’t understand was functionality, valid mark-up, cross-browser compatibility, or SEO – all things which a more traditional web design company would take into account.

While this would be classed as a creative web design company, often their creative web design’s wouldn’t be successfully converted from a design into code, and having mis-alignments in a design (especially cross-browser) became commonplace. Without experienced developers on-hand, many of these problems became overlooked, and many substandard creatively designed websites are still around today, with more and more being sent live on the world wide web every day.

For this reason, when looking to hire a creative web design company, you should always be sure to look into their operation, most reputable companies won’t mind you asking a few questions. In a creative web design company, the people building your site should be working as a team. The days of all-rounders are over, and when creativity is to be combined with functionality, it is essential to have a ‘designer’ as well as a ‘developer’ work on your project.

A designer is generally artistically minded, and may have worked as a graphic designer in the print world at some capacity. Thei r goal is to create a visually appealing design for your approval. This will be a static image of what your website is going to look like, as it is much faster to edit a graphic than to edit a coded website. Most creative web design agencies work in a similar fashion, as this allows for the complete artistic talent of the designer to be used, and complete use of the imagination of not only the designer, but also the client.

Once a design is approved, a developer steps in to convert this to a web format in standards compliant code. This may include implementation of a Content Management System (CMS), and generally involves some mild Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as well as cross-browser compatibility. Once this is done, your brand new creative web design is all ready for the World Wide Web.

You need to choose a creative web design company that can fulfil all of your needs from creating a website which suits your brand image and captivates the user, to something which will navigate easily, rank well on search engines, function the same across your entire user-base, and ultimately lead to more conversions in your market.

The main things to keep in mind when choosing a creative web design company are their design to implementation process, their cost, their portfolio, and ultimately the level of service you can expect. I am an online consultant, and can help you shoul d you have trouble finding an agency, or even if you would like me to help in assessing another agencies ability to meet your needs to come up with a creative web design that will fit your needs and help in squashing your competition.

Three Ships Whisky launches a world first

Introducing a world’s first from SA’s local whisky brand: Three Ships 15 Year Old Pinotage Cask Finish. From launching South Africa’s first whisky brand to producing the country’s first single malt, Three Ships Whisky has always defied convention by doing things differently, and this new offering is more interesting than ever.

Launched as part of the Master’s Collection, the new product needed to have the premium look and feel of a collector’s item and an exterior that matches the premium intrinsic. As a world first, it really needs to ‘wow’ visually. Just Design applied their usual energy and expertise. The result is regal and intriguing, just like the whisky. Design features include premium coated paper stock, foil and high-build finishes, as well as details like embossing and debossing on the box. Three Ships is a pioneering spirit and this new design proves that the brand keeps finding new ways to be innovative, inside and out.

Honouring the passionate stewardship of Master Distiller, Andy Watts, who continually experiments with cask finishes, single malts and new blend expressions – the new Pinotage Cask Whisky is already becoming a legend that has whisky drinkers, connoisseurs and collectors clamoring for more. Says Watts: “The idea first came to me in the early 2000s but back then our industry was still very young and the world wasn’t quite ready to accept such innovation from South Africa. I had never let go of my dream. This moment of being able to stand with the finished product in my hand is, in 25 years as a master distiller, truly the pinnacle of my career.”

Pinotage is the uniquely South African wine cultivar cloned in 1925 by Abraham Izak Perold. The wine casks impart the typical Pinotage varietal character of red berry fruit and a slight earthiness to the whisky, which softens the malt component and compliments the sweetness of the grain.

With only 3500 bottles of the 4000 bottles available for purchase by the public, Three Ships Pinotage Cask Whisky launched in October 2016. The first 500 bottles were made available on the website and sold out on the first day. There are only a few remaining bottles available from selected retailers, on www.vinoteque.co.za, at The James Sedgwick Distillery and from Big Five Duty-Free stores; priced at around R1500 a bottle, while stocks last. Soon, it will only be found in coveted collections.

Just Design catches Tropika fever

When consumers think of Tropika, one of the first things that comes to mind is Tropika Island of Treasure. As one of SA’s best-loved brands, the delicious dairy-fruit blend entertains consumers with the hit TV series. This season, Clover worked with Just Design to add excitement to the widely watched reality show by creating a new logo lock-up, refreshing the promo identity, and injecting some fresh energy.

Just Design catches Tropika fever
Tropika Island of Treasure, that first launched in 2008, successfully built an ownable concept that promotes the smooth luxurious lifestyle associated with the brand. In the series, local celebs and the winners of the on-pack promo compete on a tropical island for R1m. The concept has performed exceptionally well over the years, driving sales and differentiating the brand within the beverage category. This year, with Seychelles as the tropical destination, Just Design played a key role in developing the new identity.

Applying branding and packaging expertise, the Just Design team helped conceptualise the look-and-feel of the campaign and then brought it to life. An important consideration was how to communicate vast amounts of information on pack and in-store without compromising brand equity. Once this was properly solved, Just Design were responsible for rolling out the visual language onto all Tropika packs and art directing the celebrity photo shoot. The campaign consists out of an on-pack promotion, in-store promotional media, TV commercials, and the Tropika Island of Treasure show, which will air on SABC 3 in April 2017.

Just Design catches Tropika fever

The project is very high profile for SA’s most loved dairy-fruit blend and is an example of how a specialist approach can successfully generate interest and hype through design. The competition is running currently with promo packs available from all major retailers nationwide. Go on, live da smoooth life.

Why Expertise Web Designer Is Needed To Design Your Business Website?

Skilled web designers are in demand and there will always be a requirement for them in the software industry. If you are planning to launch a website then it is quite obvious that you will be looking for an expert in the field. This means that you will be looking for an expert web designer to design your business website. This is simply the case with most of the entrepreneurs who expect the most out of their investment.

More and more companies are getting of age and need an online presence. That is why the software industry is also booming. An online presence means global audience which is extremely good for business of any kind. With millions of viewers from all across the world, someone has to pitch for you. Here arises the need of an expert website designer who can help you with that. They can design your website in such a way that it not only attracts maximum traffic but also ensures returning customers.

These web designers know how to design your business website in a way that it generates utmost revenue for you. For example they can create the content of your website in such a way that it looks unique. Your products and services will be explained in simple terms that a lay man will be able comprehend well and this will give you a better conversion rate.

Web designers will conduct their research and organize everything for you in the best possible way. They are efficient in website design and can design in such a way that it looks appealing to the worldwide viewers. They use the latest technology which gives your site the desired look with bolder logos and richer text. They also take care of the fact that your website can be navigated easily by anyone to get nearly all the information about your line of business and its facilities.

Another thing that needs to be mentioned here is that they take of problem solving as well. They not only troubleshoot your technical and logical errors but also give lifelong site maintenance. In other words web designers these days are also providing for more service than they used to in the past.

Overall it needs to be mentioned here that it is better to leave the matter to an expert web designer who is needed to design your business website. After all you need to be honest to yourself that you do not know much about web designing. Let the pro help you resolving all your logical and technical problems. It is a wise decision to leave it up to the specialist who means good returns from your endeavor.

Why A Professional Web Design Agency?

It’s the old adage, which has never been more true – you get what you pay for. Sure, you could probably get a friend of a friend to build your site, but would you really be happy with the result? Would you end up changing it again a few months later when you realise it simply isn?t up to the task in hand? Most likely yes – is it therefore good value for money…NO!

The role of a High End Creative Design Agency is to be the expert. We do this day in day out and make a living out of it – yet there is still this one remaining hurdle to overcome with a lot of people.

We Are Angry?

that we have had another poor soul through our doors who has paid ?someone? to build their site, and yet again the results are beyond pathetic they are destructive!

The reason is – there are a lot of (and it pains me to say it) cowboys out there – damaging the reputation of us credible, talented and effective Design Agencies. Knocking something up from a template using code that is beyond archaic will do you and your business no favors whatsoever – not only will it look bad, but google will not be able to see it therefore achieving any web presence will be an almost impossible task.

A Professional Web Design Agency?

will be able to guide, support and direct you, offering a real valuable return on your investment. You spend £500 with a mate on a website which makes you absolutely no money, generates no business and actually frightens your potential customers away is a waste of £500. So, spend £3000+ on a site which will generate double, triple, quadruple that for you business…It?s a no brainer!

A professional creative agency will be able to show you a list satisfied customers. This history and track-record will re-assure you that you are investing your money in a safe bet! True, a web design agency may charge you higher fees, but you are being offered high quality work which will prove its worth for years to come.

The list of reasons why you should invest your money carefully are endless, yet speak for themselves. If you are serious about getting your business up and running on line, delivering business to you fast, you must speak to a professional agency. All too often we find ourselves picking up the pieces of someone who has been let down with their cheap web solution and they end up spending more than they would have done in the first place to get it right!
